Dear Friends and Family of AAHS,

WOW!  Harvest was such a huge success this year, and we can't thank you enough.  Hundreds of people came out to celebrate with us - we danced, chatted, laughed, ate and drank the night away!  Most importantly, we were able to raise more money than ever before to support the men, women and children served by Athens Area Homeless Shelter. A huge and heartfelt thank you from all of us.

As we roll into the holiday season, please consider helping to make the season special for those in need.  Junk South is partnering with us in the month of November to raise money for our Gift Card Drive!  They will be collecting donations from clients and matching a portion - we are so grateful.  Details on our Gift Card Drive below.

Happy Autumn,
Shea Post, Executive Director

Harvest for the Homeless is Tonight!

Hello friends and supporters of Athens Area Homeless Shelter!

We are so excited for Harvest for the Homeless!

Join us for an evening of celebration and support at the 10th Annual Harvest for the Homeless benefiting the Athens Area Homeless Shelter.  The party takes place Friday, Nov. 8 in the beautiful Classic Center Atrium starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Athens Swing Band will provide the dance music, Wild Heaven Craft Beers will host the beer tasting and the Whirling Cash Tank will challenge those who want to see how much cash they can catch.  A food spread and cash bar will featured while guests peruse an array of auction items including sports memorabilia, furniture, artwork, gift baskets and more.

Even if you can't attend the event, test your luck by purchasing a raffle ticket for your chance to win dinner out in the Athens-area every week for a year — 52 dining certificates raining from fast-food to Five and Ten.

All net proceeds go to the operation of the Athens Area Homeless Shelter and its programs helping families with extended-stay shelter, training and support for independent housing in the future.

Read more about Harvest for the Homeless from Sunday's Athens Banner Herald here!

Tickets will be available at the event for $30. Student tickets will be available for $10 with a student ID

Get your homeless help card each semester and support us by shopping around town!
Dear Friends and Family of AAHS,

Wow what a summer and what a year it’s been!  Our shelter is packed, our employment program is full, our new Going Home program already has a wait list and we’ve just launched a brand new program on Financial Literacy!  We’ve been quite busy over here, and it shows.  In the past year we have provided services to roughly 400 people, including 54 families with 116 children.  While the need remains great, we feel good about providing programming that supports these families in becoming independent.

AAHS is growing.  As we grow, so does our positive impact on the community.  Please take a moment to check out our income and expense percentages below. Almost 40% of our budget is dependent on community donations.  And importantly – over 75% of our output goes directly into client services.  When you contribute, you are a direct part of our community impact.

Speaking of which, we are gearing up for our 10th annual Harvest for the Homeless fundraiser this November!  It promises to be the most fun yet – we will be celebrating at the beautiful new Atrium in the Classic Center, with the Athens Swing Band.  As always we’ll have a wonderfully eclectic silent auction and the best raffle in Athens – win 52 gift certificates to local restaurants and dine out weekly for an entire year!  What could be better in a town with our dining scene?

Please come out and dance, laugh and celebrate with us at Harvest.  I look forward to seeing you there, and thanking you in person for being a part of the AAHS family.

Sincerely,
Shea Post
Executive Director

We've had a blast with some amazing volunteers this summer!

Our first ever trivia fundraiser was a great success!  20 teams and 200 people raised close to $6,000 for our childcare costs, plus we had a ton of fun with great prizes!  Thank you, Athens!
