The Athens Area Homeless Shelter would like to give a special thanks to these local and corporate businesses that provided monetary and tangible donations throughout the past few weeks! 


Horton's Drug Store: Clothing donation
Ramsey: Several sponges and buckets for the car wash fundraiser
Lowes on Epps Bridge: A $50 gift card which bought 70 black trash bags, a first aid kit, and laundry detergent
Lowes on Lexington Road: Some multi-surface cleaner, 2 bottles of clorox wipes, laundry detergent, and dishwasher detergent
Goodyear Tires: A $100 check
O'Reilly Auto Parts: 2 buckets, 2 bottles of car soap, 12 rags for the car wash fundraiser
Redeemer Church: They let us use their parking lot for the car wash fundraiser
Carmike Cinemas: 2 stacks of copy paper, and 3 rolls of 60 gallon trash bags


Each of these businesses contributed to raising awareness of the word homelessness, which we define as an experience occurring at some time in an individual's life--rather than categorizing them as "homeless".  
They also aided in the fundraising department through their generous donations!

Helping the Homeless!

As we've recently stated, the Athens Area Homeless Shelter has teamed up with a UGA SPCM 3600 class of 24 students in order to promote the shelter's purpose and raise awareness for the idea of homelessness in Athens. After approximately TWO weeks of promoting through social media outlets, reaching out to corporate and local businesses for donations, and collaborating several fundraising events--a percentage night at Menchie's and a car wash--this class surpassed their initial goal, and raised at total of $930.00.

In addition to raising an incredible amount of money in such a short period of time, they also received a few items that the we posted on our wish list, which is a HUGE help to the women and children in our shelter. Car Wash Event this Saturday!

Everyone remember to come out to Redeemer Presbyterian Church this Saturday, July 28! Donations for each car wash benefit our shelter!

Help The Homeless in Athens!

Thanks so much to the UGA SPCM 3600 class for promoting our Athens Area Homeless Shelter, and creating amazing fundraising events to increase awareness for our purpose and the entire idea of homelessness. Homelessness in Athens, GA is something that hundreds of people experience a year, and this group of students is doing their part to aid in alleviating this issue.
