One time big needs:
A weed whacker or push lawn mower
Cordless or plug-in weed whacker, and or a push lawn mower - either would be great!
School Uniforms
We've got little ones at Whit Davis Elementary, Alps Rd Elementary, and Clarke Middle School, all of which have uniform requirements. If your kids have outgrown theirs, we would love to have them!
A moving dolly
Pretty frequently we move furniture into apartments for clients, including washers and dryers and have to scrounge up a moving dolly from someone. We'd love to have one on stand by!
As our Going Home program grows, we would love to be able to help clients moving into their own apartments have washing machines and dryers. If you're upgrading and are looking to donate your old one, let us know!
Our ongoing wishlist:
Beds of all sizes
AAHS is so excited to have launched our Going Home
rapid rehousing program this year! We really love being able to
provide beds for families as they move in. We accept twin, double, and
queen beds, and can store them until a family is ready for them.
Umbrellas for Adults and Kids
In blustery fall and winter weather, keeping dry in
Athens is hard work! Help us out by donating umbrellas for our residents
and their children!
Black 30 Gallon Trash Bags
With up to 25 people living in the shelter, we go through trash bags pretty quickly!
This is currently our biggest need at the shelter.
Restock our Medicine Cabinet
While living in close quarters, it's always smart to
have a fully stocked medicine cabinet! We go through chapstick, pepto
bismol, tums, benedryl, neosporin, children's allergy relief, children's
pain relief, infant pain reliever, and children's multivitamins pretty
quickly.
High Efficiency Laundry Detergent
The Shelter's laundry detergent supplies run out
quickly when washing clothing for six families. Your donation keeps our
families clean and comfortable. As we transition to high efficiency
washers and dryers we specifically need HE detergent.
Cleaning Supplies
Cleaning an aging facility takes a lot of elbow grease.
Donations of lysol wipes, dish-washing detergent, trash bags, bleach,
all purpose cleanser, and floor cleanser always meet an immediate need.
Diapers
Our little ones go through diapers so quickly! Right now we're in need of sizes 3, 4, and 5 diapers and various pull ups sizes.
Baby Wipes
We have lots of little ones right now at the shelter! Help us keep them fresh and clean!
Toiletries
With an average of 20 residents, we're always in need
of shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste ,and
other hygiene items.
New women and children's underwear
While we have great relationships with thrift stores in
town, new underwear is something that we'd love to have on hand for
residents moving in. Women's and children's underwear in all sizes, and
training underwear for those moving out of pull-ups would be greatly
appreciated! Other undergarments are also accepted!
