Give the gift of empowerment and support!

Supporting our moms at AAHS to shop for their own families strengthens the bond between parent and child while reinforcing their goals of budgeting and prioritizing needs. This empowers, rather than dictates to our families, how they will experience the holidays while living in a shelter.
  • We welcome gift cards to Target and Walmart from $5, $10, $100, or more
  • We accept cash, check, and Paypal donations which we will designate for the gift cards fund.
  • Donations towards gift card purchases can be made through our Paypal account here!
  • If writing a check please note "Christmas Gift Card Drive" on the memo line.
Please donate gift cards by December 16th so that we have time to organize our shopping trip.
If you are more interested in donating items, please see our wish list for items needed every day.

For questions and more information, please contact volunteer@helpathenshomeless.org, or call between 10:00am and 6:00pm Monday through Friday at (706) 354-0423.

Cash, check, and gift card donations can be mailed or dropped off at 620 Barber Street, Athens, GA 30606. Staff is at the shelter 24 hours a day and donations can be dropped off any time.

AAHS provides collaborative, comprehensive services to homeless individuals and families working toward sustainable independence.

Dear Friends and Family of AAHS,

WOW!  Harvest was such a huge success this year, and we can't thank you enough.  Hundreds of people came out to celebrate with us - we danced, chatted, laughed, ate and drank the night away!  Most importantly, we were able to raise more money than ever before to support the men, women and children served by Athens Area Homeless Shelter. A huge and heartfelt thank you from all of us.

As we roll into the holiday season, please consider helping to make the season special for those in need.  Junk South is partnering with us in the month of November to raise money for our Gift Card Drive!  They will be collecting donations from clients and matching a portion - we are so grateful.  Details on our Gift Card Drive below.

Happy Autumn,
Shea Post, Executive Director

Harvest for the Homeless is Tonight!

Hello friends and supporters of Athens Area Homeless Shelter!

We are so excited for Harvest for the Homeless!

Join us for an evening of celebration and support at the 10th Annual Harvest for the Homeless benefiting the Athens Area Homeless Shelter.  The party takes place Friday, Nov. 8 in the beautiful Classic Center Atrium starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Athens Swing Band will provide the dance music, Wild Heaven Craft Beers will host the beer tasting and the Whirling Cash Tank will challenge those who want to see how much cash they can catch.  A food spread and cash bar will featured while guests peruse an array of auction items including sports memorabilia, furniture, artwork, gift baskets and more.

Even if you can't attend the event, test your luck by purchasing a raffle ticket for your chance to win dinner out in the Athens-area every week for a year — 52 dining certificates raining from fast-food to Five and Ten.

All net proceeds go to the operation of the Athens Area Homeless Shelter and its programs helping families with extended-stay shelter, training and support for independent housing in the future.

Read more about Harvest for the Homeless from Sunday's Athens Banner Herald here!

Tickets will be available at the event for $30. Student tickets will be available for $10 with a student ID
