Moms Mentoring Moms

Moms of Athens: Looking for new ways to get involved?

sorry dads and students, this one’s for the mamas!

Athens Area Homeless Shelter is in the process of beginning a new mentoring program for our residents! Moms mentoring moms is designed to be an interactive support system and an outlet for the moms staying in the shelter. We’re looking for women who either are moms or have been moms to connect with our residents on a weekly basis.
While we often offer life skills and parenting classes, mentoring is a more personal way for our residents to engage with the Athens community and be supported as they parent their children.  We are asking for volunteers who chose the mentoring program to commit to a minimum of six months of weekly visits.  Of course, volunteers are welcome to spend more than just an hour a week with our residents.
If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, e-mail us at volunteer@helpathenshomeless.org or call the office at 706-354-0423.
