Summer Update

Oh my goodness, do we have so much to catch you up on! As you know, Trivia night was a HUGE success. We were blown away by your response. Our kids can now stay in summer camp all summer while their moms continue working and going to school. Amazing. We love being a part of the Athens community!

Summer months are always the trickiest here at AAHS. With college students heading home, we are left with lots of volunteer opportunities that need to be filled.

In the month of July, we need dinner volunteers for every Friday, and several Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays.

We also understand that summer months can be such a busy time for everyone. If you don’t have time to prepare dinner for our residents, there are still several ways you can help. Our biggest need here at the shelter is diapers! We have quite a few little ones here that go through diapers quickly! Sizes 3, 4, and 5 would be tremendously helpful.

Speaking of diapers, Maurice’s at Georgia Square Mall is hosting a Diaper and Deodorant drive for us. If you bring your donation of diapers or deodorant you receive a coupon for 20% off your purchase! Now, that’s a deal!

Trivia Team Battle

Another school year has come to an end for our kiddos here at AAHS. What a year it has been! Summer is an exciting time for our young residents. SWIMMING! NO HOMEWORK! CAMP! We love to see the sweet smiles on their faces that accompany summertime adventures.

If our kids are in camp, then our moms stay in school and at work. Help us give our kids the best summer ever by playing Trivia with us on June 11th!

TRIVIA TEAM BATTLE 2013!!!

Here is how you can get involved:

STEP 1: Build a team of 4-8 people.

It can be office teams, organizational teams, neighborhood teams, or just a group of your family and friends

STEP 2: Register Your Team

Registration is $75 per team. Visitwww.HelpAthensHomeless.org or call (706)354-0423 to register.

STEP 3: Show up to the Beechwood Buffalo’s on June 11^th by 7

Trivia will be held in the large back room at Buffalo’s. Come early at 6 for dinner (on your own) and prepare for the battle of your life!

STEP 4: BATTLE!!!!!

This what you are fighting for: 1^st Prize - $350; 2^nd Prize - $150; 3^rd Prize - $75

That’s all it takes; four easy (and fun) steps to help 15 young kids stay in daycare/camp for the summer. There is nothing better than that. As always, we here at AAHS, are overwhelmingly thankful for any and all help you can give us and our residents.
