Summer Newsletter 2012

Check out what's been going on at the shelter this summer and get the scoop on what we've got coming up this fall!

Thanks for Getting the Outdoor Area Fall Ready!!

Thanks a bunch to the Georgia Students for Public Administration
who came out and transformed the outdoor part of the shelter!
They repainted picnic tables, cleaned up the outdoor play area, fixed up the garden areas,
all along with some regular maintenance.
Our residents are really excited to enjoy the fall weather with their upgraded outdoor area!

Through an Open Window

Thanks so much to Project Safe, Inc and ARTini's for coming at AAHS so that our residents could participate in Through an Open Window

Residents were given blank canvas and asked to paint their emotions about any domestic violence they or their families may have experienced in the past.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and all Through an Open Window paintings will be showcased at ARTini's to raise awareness about domestic violence in our community.

supplies needs!

new families are moving into the shelter and we have new needs!
most of our moms have little ones
so we are in need of 2-3 month diapers and baby wipes.
we are also in need of cleaning supplies and anything would be appreciated.
there are so many exciting things going on at the shelter and
we really appreciate your continued support!

Going Home!

Our first resident has been moved into her very own new apartment with help from our
NEW RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM!
called
Going Home
we are so delighted as the family is extremely
deserving of having their own place.
she is still looking for a washer and dryer so if you know of any let us know.
we are so excited to launch this program and help our moms get into their own stable housing..
so that they will NEVER be homeless again!
